Job Description
The Instructional Designer supports faculty and staff with instructional design, course development, integration of instructional technology, and implementation of evidence-based practices.
This position is NOT eligible for remote work (position to be completed in-person).
Key Responsibilities
- Support faculty with instructional design efforts
- Integrate various instructional technologies to improve the design and delivery of course content and materials
- Develop tutorials and resources to empower ISU faculty and students with instructional technology
- Maintain knowledge about using/applying the LMS as well as other university-supported programs and applications
- Identify and implement multimedia materials or other technology applications that will enhance and improve student learning
- Manage multiple projects with various deadlines
- Build strong relationships with faculty and stakeholders to provide excellent customer service
- Manage and train student employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- 2 years experience in instructional design
- Experience supporting stakeholders with educational technologies
- Knowledge using/applying a Learning Management System as well as other related programs
- Strong organization, communication, and computer technology skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree or advanced degree in education, instructional technology, mass communications or related technology field
- Supervision of student employees
- Experience creating accessible courses and course materials
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience with the Moodle and Canvas Learning Management Systems
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience with educational technology programs and basic programming languages (e.g., HTML, basic programming, etc.) used in both traditional and online educational settings
- Experience applying the Quality Matters Rubric or other quality assurance standards (OLC Quality Scorecard, Quality-Online Course Initiative Rubric, etc.) in course design
- Experience integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies in the design of online courses
- Teaching or training experience in higher education
Additional Information

Salary will be between $52,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
