Job Summary
Embedded within the college(s) they are assigned to support, the Instructional Systems Analyst (ISA) is devoted to the needs of the college(s) as they seek to enhance course delivery and improve student learning outcomes. Under the general supervision of Lead Instructional Systems Analyst and the Chief Academic Technical Officer, the ISA serves as a key instructional technology consultant for their partner college(s).
Augusta University students, leadership, faculty and staff rely on the ISA for consultation, training, systems analysis and support for their use of enterprise instructional technologies, including the learning management system, lecture capture, secure digital assessment, course evaluation, communication and collaboration tools utilized for teaching and learning. The ISA leads these efforts publicly and public speaking in the form of group training and orientation sessions is expected on a regular basis. Therefore, the ISA should be comfortable and engaging in front of an audience so as to enhance student and faculty learning.
The ISA II is a seasoned instructional technology professional with a well-developed understanding of the curricula for their college(s) programs of study. They are also subject matter experts for the software and systems that the college(s) uses. In addition to the above ISA core functions, the ISA II is a key advisor for instructional technology as it relates specifically to the programs and students in their assigned college(s). The ISA II looks for patterns in the way instructional technology positively or negatively impacts students, faculty and staff and intervenes, with training, process engineering or new instructional technology solutions for improving the teaching and learning experience for that community.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides system administration support
Provides systems support and/or systems analysis for support and troubleshooting of enterprise instructional systems for students, faculty and staff, including support for student digital testing and associated urgent incident resolution
Identify technology opportunities, trends and strategies
Consult and advise faculty and academic leadership on the use or potential use of new or existing instructional technology tools to improve student outcomes and retention.
Provides consultations and customized documentation
Provides customized training and documentation for individuals and groups for enterprise instructional systems.
Assists with Projects
Assist with projects that have broader university impact, to ensure that all programs have the support they need before, during and after product and feature rollouts, system upgrades, and other potentially challenging instructional technology experiences.
Perform other duties as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned, including providing duties listed above at times outside of the normal duty hours, as needed.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related IT field of study and three years experience in a relevant field of work
OR
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related IT field of study and five years experience in a relevant field of work, to include three years experience in using a system in a relevant function area;
OR
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and seven years experience in a relevant field of work, to include three years experience in using a system in a relevant function area
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Instructional/Educational Technology, Information Technology or related field, experience in a higher education environment, and teaching and/or training experience.
Experience supporting academic technologies in at health sciences university; preferably supporting a medical college
Experience evaluating, implementing, and maintaining open source and proprietary software.
Prior teaching or training experience
Experience with simulation technologies
Working knowledge ofDesire2Leam, Blackboard, EMS Campus, Echo360, or competing products (i.e. learning management systems).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of analysis and instructional design techniques.
Knowledge of documentation needs and techniques.
Skill in training and teaching others and the ability to speak in front of an audience effectively with an engaging style.
Skill in dealing with a variety of personalities while working to accomplish detailed and technical tasks.
Ability to interpret & respond to user problems.
Ability to conduct and evaluate systems testing.
Experience either directly performing the business operations through the use of an automated information system or in a technology support role for these business operations.
Experience assisting users with troubleshooting information system applications and excellent interpersonal communication skills are required.
Typing speed of 45 wpm or more. Knowledge of data analysis techniques.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Grade: 19
Salary: Minimum $51,967.00/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
