Position Title: IT Support Instructional Assistant
Location: Remote, must reside in the United States
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Per Scholas is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as an Instructor Assistant. The Instructor Assistant (IA) will play an important role in our organization’s mission, as they train Per Scholas students to be outstanding entry and mid-level technicians.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Classroom Facilitation
- Using a structured and approved curriculum, assist the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training to prepare students for entry to mid-level Information Technology jobs. Technical training competencies include, but are not limited to: hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, cybersecurity, web development, quality assurance, and project management.
- Assist classroom facilitation in a highly interactive, hands-on style. The IA will consult with the Instructor before providing current students with any review materials, videos or any other support.
- Using the instructor’s evaluations, the IA will form and lead study groups. Topics will be determined by the instructor and the students. These study groups can be held during class time (as approved by the instructor) or before/after class.
- The IA will consult with the instructor to determine what the activities are going to be for the present and upcoming days, and assist in gathering the necessary tools to conduct the lectures and hands-on labs.
- The IA will have an understanding of the curriculum and be prepared to conduct a lesson in the event that the instructor needs to be out of the classroom.
- Utilize in-house Canvas for assignments, tests, and real-time performance monitoring, and assisting in entering student attendance/grades/scorecards.
- The Per Scholas curriculum calls for a 7 hour teaching day. The rest of the time is dedicated to interactive, hands-on lab activities which are led by the Technical Instructor and IA. IA hours are set in accordance with the tech instructor.
- Class sizes range from 15-24 students.
Managing Student Performance
- Provide students with ongoing feedback and recognize any challenges early and work with the instructor and/or coaches and students to overcome them.
- Coordinate closely with students’ instructors and career coaches on enforcing program rules and promoting student success.
- Implementing individualized study plans for students that are struggling in the class.
- Participate in all required student progress meetings with other members of the team
- Monitor and enforce student class attendance, dress code, and other program policies
Curriculum
- Provide input on labs, Learning Management System, and program policies
Administrative
- Participation in staff meetings
- Conduct real-time student data entry in Canvas
- Grade student assignment

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary of $37,440.
