As Employment Counsel, you will help develop our employment legal strategy, ensuring we stay ahead in a constantly evolving tech landscape.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you’ll do at Figma:
- Provide legal advice, counseling and support to Figma’s global People organization on recruiting, employment, employee relations, and compensation/benefits matters
- Draft, revise, and update employment and benefits-related documentation and agreements as needed
- Advise on internal investigations and recommend appropriate outcomes
- Identify and operationalize compliance-based requirements and build scalable employment-related policies, playbooks, templates, and self-serve tools in collaboration with partner teams to help scale the legal function and the business
- Manage employment-related litigation including strategy, discovery, drafting, and coordination with outside counsel
- Identify and address developing employment legal requirements and potential future legal risks to the business
- Collaborate with other cross-functional business teams including legal, accounting, procurement, and communications
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 6+ years of legal experience at a top tier law firm and in-house legal department practicing employment law
- A J.D. and are a current member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar
- Significant experience providing practical, clear advice & counsel to clients on the full spectrum of employment legal issues, including hiring, performance management, leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, and termination
- Deep knowledge of employment laws
- Familiarity with drafting and reviewing employment documentation, including agreements, policies, and handbooks
- Extraordinary communication skills, both written and verbal with a strong attention to detail
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- Experience with or interest in employment law in California, New York, outside the United States and / or in complex regulated environments (e.g., with collective bargaining agreements or unions; with OFCCP requirements)
- Experience with international expansion and M&A
- Excellent interpersonal skills and business judgment; an ability to distill complex issues and concisely explain why it matters
- Collaborative approach, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others
- A strong self awareness around what you know and what you don’t know. You should have a sense of curiosity and desire to learn what you don’t know
