The Job Details are as follows:
The Director, Public Library Management Services provides a clear strategy for new and existing services that will drive innovation and further revenue growth. This leader will identify new market opportunities and business models that fit the strategy and will partner with other key OCLC business leaders to execute effective plans. This position focuses on incorporating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to re-imagine new service opportunities for public libraries.
The Director quickly responds to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, is forward thinking and flexible. This position requires a proven track record in developing new SaaS products, re-invigorating mature products and creating new business models to drive growth. They work collaboratively with the other Lines of Business owners to develop and successfully execute compelling, integrated solutions driven by market segment and user needs. The result will enable public libraries globally to further automate their workflows, provide better decision support, harness the power of AI, and more effectively provide new services for their communities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the vision and product strategy for public libraries, including the development of Wise as the leading next-generation solution for the US and global library market.
- Investigate and develop new product offerings to support public library workflows in new areas including decision support and community engagement, with a focus on leveraging AI technologies to create compelling experiences.
- Manage the revenue, contribution, and budgets associated for the product portfolio.
- Leverage strong networks and relationship building skills within public libraries worldwide, with specific focus on US public libraries.
- Provide strategic, managerial, staff development, and leadership for the Wise and Bibliotheca teams.
- Present at customer and library market events and conferences.
- Monitor industry trends, product reviews, and competitive products/services; propose changes and recommendations based on analysis of trends and member feedback.
- Inspire, cultivate and foster a winning cross-team culture measured by high retention and employee satisfaction.
- Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with internal and external partners including: Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Development, Data Services, Research, Business Development, libraries & third-party content providers.
- Travel up to 30% of the time.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a product management leadership position setting and communicating a compelling vision for a product line.
- Demonstrated expertise launching new products and growing mature products.
- Passion for automating workflows and leveraging data and new technologies, like AI to create new innovative services and community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in public library services, or public library management systems, or related experience in public library workflow solutions with a focus on the US public library market.
- 10+ years in product management
- Superior communication and collaboration skills: written and oral presentation
- Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model
- Demonstrated ability with financial planning and financial forecasting
- Master’s degree preferred.
