PlayOn is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Shortform Video Development team. As a Senior Software Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass spearheading and actively participating in the formulation, development, and upkeep of our shortform applications and services. You will collaborate with multifunctional teams to dissect, blueprint, and execute cloud-native software solutions that align precisely with customer requirements. Our vision is to build a Narrative Service that allows fans to build the story of a high-school athlete through video short-form content and highlights. This service will enhance the PlayOn platform and our various product offerings. We are committed to continuously improving our platform and providing exceptional customer support.
The Outcomes You’ll Deliver
Drive consumer engagement through the creation of compelling short-form content.
· Develop efficient approaches for creating a wide variety of short-form content types.
· Create systems for reliably delivering and managing a high volume of short-form content.
· Leverage AI when possible to increase quality and lower costs.
IN THIS ROLE YOU CAN EXPECT TO...
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications.
- Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and other team activities.
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations to the team.
- Ensure that development processes and practices are followed.
- Write technical documentation and ensure that it is up-to-date.

- Passion for Collaboration and Mentorship: Ability to work with product teams on breaking down stories, mentoring team members, strong debugging skills, and writing and maintaining unit and integration tests. Emphasis on collaboration, team orientation, empathy, and receptiveness to feedback.
- Knowledge of Full-Stack Development: Proficiency in Python, React, TypeScript
- Database Management: Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB), including database design and optimization. Experience with ETL data pipelines is a bonus.
- Preferred Video Experience: Experience with web multimedia, video.js, and building customer-facing software strongly preferred
- Preferred Cloud Experience: Experience with AWS, IaC, CI/CD pipelines strongly preferred
