Description
Senior Editorial Manager, Literacy
WHAT WE SEEK
We’re looking for a Senior Editorial Manager who’s ready to take full ownership of the editorial experience across our literacy products. If you love shaping instructional content, thinking in systems, mentoring editors, and ensuring that every piece of text—across lessons, platform screens, and teacher-facing materials—works together with clarity and purpose, this role is for you.
You’ll partner closely with Instructional Design, Product Management, and Production to bring engaging, equitable, high-quality literacy content to life. This is a role for someone who loves the details and the big picture—someone who thrives on turning ideas into polished, instructionally sound experiences for students and teachers.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
- Lead the editorial workflow for print + digital literacy content, ensuring consistency across all linked components.
- Create and revise instructional units (primarily grades 6–12 ELA).
- Review manuscripts for content accuracy, clarity, reading level, and freedom from bias.
- Manage proofs, art specs, and editorial quality across all production stages.
- Partner with Instructional Design, Product, and Production teams to deliver on vision, timeline, and standards.
- Mentor and manage two editorial team members.
- Support market and competitive analyses to inform product decisions.
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BOOKBAG
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in English, Education, or related field a plus.
- 5+ years of editorial experience in educational publishing.
- Strong ELA/literacy content knowledge (grades 6–12 preferred).
- Expertise with editorial style, markup, and The Chicago Manual of Style.
- Experience editing both print and digital instructional materials.
- Comfortable using Smartsheet, Adobe Suite, and digital content management tools.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple concurrent workflows.
- A collaborative, proactive approach—you bring ideas and solutions.
- Commitment to equity and creating inclusive, accessible instructional content.
