About the role
We are seeking an editor with strong background in Electrical Engineering or Data Science to join our editorial team.
In this role, you will help shape the journal by managing submissions, coordinating peer review, and engaging with the scientific community. You will work closely with a collaborative team dedicated to advancing open science and interdisciplinary research.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in electrical engineering or data science, with excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to evaluate research critically while working effectively in a team. Responsibilities
- Reviewing, evaluating, and providing constructive feedback on submitted manuscripts and research papers in electrical engineering, data science, machine learning, and related fields.
- Providing outstanding author service and overseeing the peer review process.
- Establishing relationships with scientists in physical science area through outreach to research communities and recruit exciting papers.
- Traveling to scientific conferences and visit academic institutes.
- Strengthening and building the visibility and reputation of the journal.
- Contributing to strategic planning and journal development with the editorial team.
- Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond.
- Contributing to broader Cell Press initiatives to shape the future of science communication.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Electrical Engineering field, with strong hands-on experience in coding, algorithm development, engineering principles, and analytical skills.
- Have research experience in a relevant field and a broad scientific interest, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Previous editorial experience, with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process, would be an added advantage but not an requirement.
- Utilize critical thinking and the willingness to learn and absorb new areas of research.
- Have teamwork and interpersonal skills with a collaborative problem-solving mindset.
- Interest in engaging with the scientific community.
- Able to work successfully both independently and in a diverse global team.
- Have a natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community.
- Have permit to work full time in US. This job will be US based hiring only.
U.S. National Base Pay Range: $59,200 - $98,600. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
