Compensation: $150000 - $175000 / Annually

The individual in this role is responsible for leading Data Governance teams to establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards that ensure data is trusted, secure, and compliant across the organization. This role requires communicating complex data governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a Data Governance team that designs and refines governance frameworks, policies, and best practices; leads complex governance initiatives across multiple domains
- Influences and aligns senior stakeholders across departments; navigates competing priorities and drives consensus on governance decisions
- Resolves complex data management challenges, optimizes governance processes, and implements sophisticated quality and compliance controls
- Mentors governance team members, builds governance capabilities, and establishes communities of practice across the organization
- Translates KnowBe4's strategic goals into operational governance plans
- Design and implement KnowBe4's enterprise-wide data governance framework, including policies, standards, data ownership models, and governance processes
- Build and lead the data governance function by recruiting data stewards and governance specialists, establishing a governance council, and facilitating cross-functional working groups
- Select, deploy, and manage data governance tooling to enable scalable governance operations across the organization
- Drive adoption and stakeholder engagement by partnering with Data & Analytics, Business Applications, CISO office, Product, Engineering, and business units to champion governance initiatives
- Establish data quality management programs, including quality monitoring frameworks, remediation workflows, and metrics to measure program effectiveness
- Provide genuine recommendations as to the hiring, firing, promotion, and discipline of subordinate employees to which the Company gives significant weight
Required Skills:
- BS or equivalent plus 8 years in data governance program
- MS or equivalent plus 5 years in data management and governance
- Ph.D. or equivalent plus 2 years in data management and governance
- 5 years leading data governance program or initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and influence across C-suite to individual contributors
- Expertise in data quality frameworks, data lineage, and metadata management
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, HIPAA)
- Translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Cross-functional collaboration with distributed, global teams
- Organizational change management and governance adoption strategies
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL for data profiling and quality validation
- Experience with enterprise platforms: Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, AWS
- Choose, deploy, roll out, and manage data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar)
- Understanding of cloud data architectures and ETL/ELT processes
- Python or R for data analysis (preferred)
- Industry Experience:
- SaaS company experience strongly preferred
- Experience in regulated industries or compliance environments preferred
- Certifications (one or more required):
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)
- DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional)
- CIPP/CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Manager)
The base pay for this position ranges from $150,000 - $175,000, which will vary depending on how well an applicant's skills and experience align with the job description listed above.
