About the Team
AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is rapidly expanding its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. This team is part of the broader Assessment Production Strategy and Operations Team and is comprised of 4 professionals with expertise in a variety of domains that are integral to the production of AP Exam content.
Aboutthe Opportunity
The Associate Director, AP Assessment Production will play an integral role in the AP Assessment Production lifecycle, ensuring that all AP Exams are authored with a robust review process and finalized according to detailed specifications. The Associate Director, AP Assessment Production will work closely with AP content teams, project managers overseeing specific course assessment production efforts, and College Board Psychometrics to manage the exam build and certification process that safeguards the integrity and fidelity of AP Exams for all students while balancing the needs and priorities of the numerous stakeholders involved.
As Associate Director, AP Assessment Production, you are a crucial member of the cross-functional team building and delivering AP Exams. You are a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong project management or operations experience in a production environment and advanced Excel skills with a keen eye for detail and a passion for education. Known for exceptional communication and collaboration, you excel in fast-paced environments, efficiently managing multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on process and creative problem-solving under tight deadlines.
In this role, you will:
Oversee finalization, certification, and downstream delivery of AP Exams (60%)
- Work with content and technical teams to certify that each AP Exam form has been developed and will be delivered according to defined processes and specifications
- Develop and manage schedules that prioritize according to time-sensitive downstream hand-offs, escalating as needed to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy
- Facilitate final content validation processes for digital AP Exams, as needed
- Coordinate hand-off of finalized AP Exams to downstream delivery systems and print vendors, as appropriate
Oversee specifications for AP Exam authoring and key (20%)
- Ensure accurate and timely set up of templates and data pathways for all AP courses and item types in relevant College Board exam authoring and delivery systems
- Monitor relevant technology roadmaps to ensure planned feature development and deploys align with program needs and schedules
Support documentation development and management (20%)
- Collaborate with the broader Operations team to revise and/or maintain certification processes and documentation, including job aides, checklists, and submission reports
- Collaborate with the broader AP Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current work management practices and associated documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents
- Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis
About You
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong follow-through and operational discipline.
- An advanced Excel user with demonstrated experience building Excel-based validation and reconciliation tools that support large, complex datasets with clear logic, error-checking, and documentation
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to anticipate challenges and prioritize effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Skilled at leveraging systems and routines to drive efficiency and maximize productivity and have demonstrated an ability to identify risks early, assess impact, and escalate issues appropriately

- Willing and able to travel domestically 1–2 times per quarter.
