Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, special education, or related field with demonstrated experience in high school guidance counseling or student support services. Familiarity with data-driven decision-making, virtual learning environments, and experience working with international students and families.

Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $45,000 – $60,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

The School Counselor at Hudson Global Scholars (HGS) is dedicated to supporting students' academic journeys, fostering engagement, and ensuring they achieve their goals, including timely graduation or program completion. This role monitors individual progress, identifies barriers to success, and collaborates with educators, administrators, and families to implement effective interventions. The counselor also provides high school counseling services, including course advising, transcript analysis, and Common App support, while contributing to systems that improve student outcomes and overall program success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor academic progress for individual students and cohorts, identifying those at risk.
  • Develop and implement personalized interventions to address barriers to learning and promote success.
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional managers, and school leaders to address academic concerns.
  • Communicate regularly with families and stakeholders, providing updates on student performance and recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee credit requirements and graduation plans for degree-seeking students, ensuring alignment with academic goals.
  • Maintain and update records of student interactions, interventions, and outcomes to track progress effectively.
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, propose solutions, and refine intervention strategies.
  • Recommend and implement tools and tracking systems to enhance academic oversight and student support.
  • Facilitate communication between internal staff and external partners to coordinate support for student success.
  • Assist with course advising, transcript evaluation, and planning for graduation or program milestones.
  • Provide recommendation letters, manage Common App submissions, and maintain school profiles in relevant platforms.
  • Act as a resource for teachers, families, and students, offering guidance and general counseling services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, special education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in high school guidance counseling or student support services.
  • Proficiency in implementing multi-level support programs to enhance K-12 student achievement.
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and educational technology tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
