McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational solutions, is looking for a Senior Manager, HR Operational Excellence & Compliance who is responsibile for overseeing HR Operational Excellence & Compliance Management and enabling key HR initiatives. The Senior Manager is a critical liaison between HR Technology and Operations and the HR function by contributing expertise to project teams while reporting critical project metrics and insights back to leadership. The Senior Manager ensures HR Operations run efficiently and effectively while also ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Reporting to the VP of HR Technology & Operations, this position will work from a home office within the United States and travel several times per year for in-person meetings and events. Candidates must reside permanently within the US to be considered.
What can you expect from the position?
- Oversee the execution of HR processes and technologies to drive an efficient and optimal employee experience.
- Partner with COE’s to create and document new company policies.
- Create and maintain standard templates and tools, user training materials, an M&A playbook, and an HR scorecard to be used across the HR organization.
- Develop and maintain resource load tool to track workload across initiatives, scorecard goals, and cyclical activities.
- Assess and drive solutions which focus on the user experience across processes and technology.
- Develop training and user guides for processes and user guides – focusing on Technology and Automated Processes.
- Develop and manage intake of all new initiatives / enhancements and projects.
- Facilitate discussion and agreement across the HRC Executive Committee.
- Serve as the HR lead for all integration projects. Build annual and quarterly portfolio roadmaps to track initiatives.
- Work with Human Resources (HR) and cross-functional stakeholders to identify project interdependencies, and develop project plans that deliver on objectives for complex initiatives.
- Identify relevant stakeholders, the role they will play, and the stage in which their involvement is required for each project.
- Work with project teams, both within HR and across the company, to track progress to plan; leverage project checkpoints, status reports, and other tools designed to identify and resolve roadblocks.
- Foresee and escalate risks and issues to the appropriate leaders for timely decision-making; assist in evaluating trade-off decisions and devise mitigation tactics.
- Collaborate with project leadership and direct manager to develop tailored and creative change management strategies that meet desired outcomes.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand key areas of impacts to prepare targeted messaging, identify the appropriate delivery mechanisms (i.e., channels and tactics), and define key change metrics.
- Translate change strategies into actionable change management plans and measure the impact of change activities across engagement channels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies. Stay abreast of changes in labor laws and regulations and update HR policies and procedures accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance standards and mitigate risks.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Program and Project Management experience, minimum of 8 years
- HR Change Management experience, 5+ years
- Ability to synthesize and analyze data to tell a story and/or inform decisions, 5+ years
- Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement experience, 3+ years
- HR Systems implementation experience 2+ years
- HR Transformation experience 3+ years
- HR Communications experience, 3+ years
- Merger & Acquisition (M&A) project experience (including Post-Merger Integration)
- Management consulting experience \
- Independent judgement in determining how work is done, receiving guidance in only the most complex situations..
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- The ability to move quickly in a complex environment and takes ownership of outcomes and results.
- Strong leadership qualities with empathy and ability to influence.
- The ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

The pay range for this position is between $100,000 - $135,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
