The VP of Sales will lead the Really Great Reading Company sales function, both in development of new business and expansion of existing business. This critical leader will empower existing sales talent, refine and maximize current internal skillsets, and build out departmental competencies for short-term and long-term growth. The VP of Sales will define sales strategy, influence marketing strategy, and lead by example in the emphasis of training, continuous improvement, change management, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Job Duties
o Responsible for leading, empowering, and directing sales team activities to meet or exceed sales objectives
o Develop and champion a symbiotic relationship with RGR’s vision, both influencing and driving the delivery of organizational goals
o Develop and drive a sales strategy which differentiates RGR in the market and creates clear and demonstrable competitive advantages
o Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to the C-suite
o Develop and maintain deep and synergistic partnerships with Marketing and Revenue Operations, as well as collaborate cross-departmentally with Finance, HR, IT, Customer Support, Operations, and more to ensure cohesion in business development activities and processes
o Integrate communicative and culturally enriching collaboration strategies within and across functions
o Oversee all prospecting, selling, and business development activities
o Accountable for the performance of the sales team and achievement of RGR’s annual sales goals
o Select, coach, develop, and mentor employees to deliver on sales goals and achieve high performance
o Oversee the leverage and implementation of data insights into the sales function for continuous improvement and revenue optimization
o Develop and implement strategic plans and sales team Standard Operating Procedures, and sales training content and practices
o Lead the development, enhancement, and accessibility of sales training content and practices
o Make recommendations for marketing, data analysis, technology, product, and other functions impacting sales success
o Create and deploy sales team incentive plans and bonus structure, evaluating quarterly and annually for alignment with revenue activities

Required Education/Skills
- Minimum 10 years of increasingly responsible management experience inclusive of sales roles
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting a national or global sales function
- Minimum 4 years of sales leadership experience in the edtech space
- Strong leadership skills, ability to mentor and motivate individuals
- High emotional intelligence and natural propensity for collaboration
- Experience of successful leadership and partnership in change management
- Ability to operate at both a strategic/conceptual level and at a detailed, tactical level
- Track record of hiring and growing sales teams with both speed and intentionality
- Demonstrated history of consistently achieving annual sales targets in a nation-wide operation
- Experience in sales process design and improvement
- Experience with Salesforce.com, HubSpot, and/or other CRM tools
- Data driven with deep experience leveraging business analytics to drive actionable results
- Experience influencing diverse audiences including C-suite, customers, and subordinate teams
- Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills
- Experience with selecting and implementing technologies to support the sales function
- Experience with or understanding of the education technology space
- Strong aptitude in people management and team leadership
- High adaptability to change
- Willingness to travel up to 40% or more as needed to support the business
The VP of Sales role is a remote role with travel, typically performed on a computer and requires regular use of a laptop or PC, and telephone. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
· Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
· Regular use of a keyboard, and mouse or trackpad
· Frequent viewing of a computer screen
· Frequent scrolling and typing
