The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing learning content and business process documentation that support Premera’s purpose, values and business initiatives. The incumbent will collaborate with subject matter experts to develop instructional content including participant workbooks, facilitator guides, PowerPoint decks, classroom activities, job aides, evaluation tools and business process documentation using adult learning theory for instructor-led and e-learning training.
What you will do:
- Design and develop instructor-led & computer-based training material using adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies to support blended delivery of training and documentation.
- Design, develop or select course content, such as participant workbooks, facilitator guides, PowerPoint decks, classroom activities, job aides, e-learning scripts, business process documentation, and evaluation tools for instructor-led courses.
- Support multiple projects by meeting project timelines and deliverables; supporting project plan development and provide project progress updates.
- Participate in instructional analysis: determine knowledge, skills, attitudes, competencies required and gaps in learning and business process documentation; assess effectiveness and efficiency of materials including ease of instructional use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with team to write performance/behavioral objectives, determine appropriate learning solutions based upon established learning objectives; analyze relevant learning situations to determine appropriate training solution applying appropriate learning theories and design principles; develop criterion-based assessments and performance measures.
- Consult and collaborate with internal business partners to develop appropriate training or business process documentation.
- Interview subject matter experts or conduct other research to develop instructional content.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in curriculum development, education, organizational development, instructional design, or technical writing or four years of work experience (Required).
- Two (2) years of experience writing business process, designing instructor-led and web-based curriculum including scripts and facilitator guides, conducting business needs analyses and familiarity with Camtasia and Articulate Storyline software (Required).
- Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, technical writing, or content-specific certifications, as appropriate.
- Experience with learning management system (LMS) architecture and deployment in a corporate learning environment.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$67,800.00 - $98,400.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$67,800.00 - $112,200.00*
National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
