The Instructional Learning Designer assists in designing, building, delivering, and managing distance and blended learning educational projects and content that are aligned with the educational goals and objectives of the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St.
Jude Global (SJG). Under supervision of the GPM Distance Learning Project Coordinator, communicates, plans, and strategizes with other members of the education team and with GPM faculty and staff to help produce high quality, innovative educational materials that support the mission and projects of the department and St.
Jude Global Alliance members and collaborators. Coordinates with GPM Information Systems staff to administrate the content and learning management systems in use by the department and to maximize their effectiveness.
Overview
The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St.
Jude Global mission of training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.
St. Jude Global’s educational initiatives consist of the Global Scholars program and the Professional Education program.
The Global Scholars program includes the Master of Science in Global Child Health, capstone projects, and professional development training offerings.
The Professional Education program includes support for the distance learning platform (Cure4), blended certificate-based training seminars, and instructional design.
Responsibilities
GPM is currently seeking an experienced instructional design professional to serve as an Instructional Learning Designer.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the designer will collaborate with GPM Professional Education programs responsible for individual contributions and administrative tasks, including :
Initiating and facilitating collegial consultations on learning design, pedagogy, assessment, and curriculum development with faculty and staff.
Actively communicating with all programs and teams with which the position collaborates.
Performing project management tasks for a wide range of educational initiatives.
Participating in strategic planning to ensure alignment and attainment of team goals and objectives.
Writing and editing effective learning content, such as overviews, learning objectives, instructions, and assessments.
Helping develop and revise relevant policies and procedures.
Training faculty and staff on educational best practices and use of learning tools.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Learning / Instructional Design, Education / Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or related field is required
Master's degree preferred
Minimum Experience
Three (3) years' experience that includes web-based learning programs, administration of learning and content management systems, multimedia development, instructional design, web design, and video recording, production and editing
Excellent verbal communication skills
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects / work initiatives
Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Advanced ability in contemporary instructional design and graphics software applications (Captivate, Articulate Presenter and Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite or similar programs) preferred
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :
Having taught in a classroom (online or in-person) is preferred.
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
Hands on application of curricular concepts in addition to technical skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team, to prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment.
Comfortable aligning content with learning objectives and assessing outcomes.
Confidence in collaborating with and leading groups of various sizes and purposes.
Working knowledge of academic (higher education) and / or medical learning environments.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
Cultural sensitivity is required.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Instructional Learning Designer.
