Aspen Publishing is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer (ID) to be a part of an exciting, growing Company. This Part-time (10-15 hrs/wk), Temporary position will work REMOTELY. The ideal candidate must have experience with creating online, self-paced, and asynchronous learning for adults, plus is able to work with a team to adhere to best practices and style/brand guidelines.
TITLE: Instructional Designer (TEMP)
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Digital Content
DEPARTMENT: Digital Learning & Engagement
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: REMOTE
STATUS: PART-TIME (10-15 hrs/week)
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for to analyzing, designing, and developing highly effective educational programs that align with Aspen Publishing’s educational goals and objectives; ID will partner with stakeholders at Aspen and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create innovative solutions and implement learning deliverables with experiences that foster learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based educational content for e-learning, virtual, media, and other learning support materials based on knowledge of the latest learning theories and models and in support of the mission of Aspen Publishing
- Work with SMEs and Aspen stakeholders/leadership to effectively contribute to all phases of learning development including content development, release, support, evaluation, and the revision cycle.
- Provide quality assurance on developed content
- Support SMEs and peers in user experience and eLearning software/media tools.
- Plans work, meets deadlines, monitors progress, and documents project status, including issues through weekly meetings and project management tools.
- Keeps abreast of new and developing trends in learning and adult theory and applies them to learning design initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Learning/Instructional Design, Education/Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or related field is required, Master’s degree preferred
- Three (3) years’ experience that includes web-based learning programs, administration of learning and content management systems, multimedia development, instructional design, web design, and video recording, production and editing.
- Advanced ability in contemporary instructional design and graphics software applications (i.e. Captivate, Articulate Presenter and Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite or similar programs) preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt quickly to changing information and priorities
- Experience with Open edX preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to work on computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to listen and speak carefully while interacting with others
