Position Title: Professional Development Intern
Location: Hybrid (Bronx, Brooklyn)
Reports To: Senior Manager Professional Development
Per Scholas New York Board, staff and volunteers believe a thriving workforce starts with equitable access to education. We provide skills, training and access to employer networks and individuals often excluded from tech careers. Per Scholas envisions a technology workforce as diverse as the customers it serves. We periodically are looking for Professional Development student interns to join us, as volunteers or as part of a school-funded arrangement.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
Per Scholas, New York seeks a motivated undergraduate college junior or senior for volunteer unpaid internships this Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring terms (2024-2025). The intern(s) will be expected to work for at least 10 hours per week for Ten weeks. We welcome candidates who are flexible, energetic, interested in working in the nonprofit sector, and have a positive attitude.
- Candidates should be pursuing and enrolled in a BS/BA college program with a major in educational counseling, HR/ DEI related, Learning & Development program, Human Resources, and Social Sciences and/ or in another related discipline.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and is an energetic, motivated, detail-oriented team player who takes initiatives and possesses strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce/ database management programs and/ or GSuite strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with various communications platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, MS Teams or other similar programs.
- Chosen applicants must be able to be on Campus one day a week.
Nice to have, but not required.
- Knowledge of resume and cover letter writing, workforce development programs and technical instruction are a plus.
- Previous experience in assisting the facilitation of DEI, L&D, HR, Communications and/or related programs helpful.
Internships Duties and Tasks:
- Collaborate with and observe PD staff members in class or during 1:1 meetings with students to learn more about the nonprofit and educational DEI and tech sectors. ( As applicable.)
- Assisting with administrative duties (resume, cover letter review, job readiness coaching, attendance).
- Participate in Per Scholas PD staff meetings, Workshops and Career Forums and/or Events virtually or in person, on or off campus.
- Conduct and assist with processing data in salesforce, updating learner documents, notes and completing general administrative tasks as needed
- Assist in planning special events and other occasional projects.
