Job Description
Missouri Online, a part of the University of Missouri System (UM System), is seeking an Instructional Designer II to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators in enhancing online education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about ensuring high-quality course design, facilitating faculty professional development, and supporting innovative online and blended learning programs. This role involves providing pedagogical consultation and driving continuous improvement of existing online programs while adhering to instructional design standards and online teaching best practices.

Responsibilities
- Cultivate collaborative and professional working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators within Missouri Online and across campuses in the UM System
- Collaborate with colleagues, instructors, and staff within Missouri Online and across campuses in the UM System to design and develop student-centered, engaging learning experiences
- Partner with faculty to implement and produce course materials and determine delivery format for online courses
- Provide professional and timely support to faculty in the areas of pedagogy, online course development, learning experience design, and implementation of appropriate educational technologies
- Proactively listen to faculty, staff, and stakeholders to identify underlying needs and problems
- Complete course quality reviews and support faculty through quality improvements to their courses as a result of review feedback
- Facilitate professional development courses, consultations, workshops, or other events in areas of instructional design and online teaching
- Seek opportunities for personal professional development to improve instructional design knowledge and skills and stay abreast of industry trends and standards; share that knowledge internally to continually grow the knowledge base of the larger design team
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Shift
8AM-5PM. CST Monday – Friday
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with specialization in instructional design
- Two years of experience in instructional design or teaching, with preference given to candidates with online teaching experience
- Foundational knowledge of various learning theories, instructional design models, and learning experience design frameworks
- Awareness of current accessibility standards and best practices
- Basic project management skills
- Strong organization skills
- Superior time management skills
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, listening
- Experience and demonstrated success in remote work
- Desire and ability to present at local, regional, state, and national events as opportunities allow
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $56,500.00 per year
Grade: GGS-009
