The Zillow Group Talent Success organization drives the overall strategy to unlock the doors for talent to drive organizational success, including but not limited to onboarding, professional growth and performance, leadership development, and flexible work. Our team is a dedicated group of leaders, consultants, facilitators, designers, program operation leads, program managers, gatherings coordinators, and LMS managers. As a member of the Talent Management team, the Sr. Learning Consultant contributes to the team’s vision by supplying an innovative perspective that blends human-centered research, systems thinking, business insight, and activating human performance. The Sr. Learning Consultant provides a distinct interpretation of data trends with a human-centered lens that amplifies the team’s value to the business and its success.
The Sr. Learning Consultant partners closely with Talent Success leaders and cross-functional teams to research and diagnose current and emerging organizational opportunities. As a credible and informed partner, this role collaborates across the enterprise to unlock doors for talent to drive organizational success.
The Sr. Learning Consultant’s role is a unique blend of human-centered research, innovative consultative service, organizational navigation and collaboration, and project management.
Human-centered Research
- Frames, designs, and conducts human-centered qualitative research, and independently interprets qualitative data, including advanced methods.
- Translates business needs into appropriate research questions and builds corresponding research design.
- Efficiently designs and conducts discovery, testing, and feedback-gathering across a variety of study types and methods, requiring little oversight.
- Drives the definition of problem statements and performance-based metrics (i.e., key initiatives, measurable performance outcomes)
- Advocates for the employee’s experience in discovery, problem definition, and solution design phases using data gathered while conducting empathy interviews, focus groups, usability tests, and pilots.
- Applies advanced knowledge of human-centered design methodology that includes needs analysis, organizational analysis, and skill and performance gap analysis.
Innovative Consultative Service
- Leads deep discovery and needs analysis processes that surface and articulate root causes and employee and performance needs, preferences, and gaps.
- Provides clear, actionable, constructive feedback, focused on outcomes.
- Confidently engages cross-functional teams throughout research, consultation, co-creation, and recommendation practices while educating collaborators throughout.
- Drives cross-functional discussions towards a shared vision so everyone has a stake in its success. Anticipates business partners’ concerns and builds trust.
- Challenges assumptions to further Talent Success’ impact beyond traditional learning activities.
Organizational Navigation and Collaboration
- Informs performance improvement by identifying gaps between employee performance (objective, observable, behavioral, mental models) and business goals/strategy.
- Proactively navigates within the organization to find novel data and insights.
- Defines measurable criteria for validating solution iterations.
- Translates transformative ideas and innovative proposals into tangible action plans and roadmaps that clearly transfer to project teams for scaled execution.
- Engages in collaborative opportunities with cross-functional teams and remains closely informed of key organizational initiatives and challenges.
- Demonstrates deep collaborative facilitation skills, keeps the project team engaged, ensures every voice is heard, and drives towards clear output or outcomes.
- Creates an inclusive environment for teammates and business partners.
Project Management
- Follows industry standard practices when developing methodological approaches to conduct research (i.e., appropriate research methods, research plan development, generating and testing hypotheses, ensuring a representative sample, collecting insights).
- Collaborates effectively within a project team to own discovery, problem definition, and solution design phases of a project, capitalizing on the Cloud HQ (digital-first) environment.
- Prioritizes agile methods to review, reflect, and iterate. Implements sprint planning and monitoring, regular internal and business partner/SME review and validation, team retrospectives, and continuous improvement as a project owner.
- Identifies risks early in project lifecycles and defines escalation points, mitigation strategies, and minimum viable product standards.
- Accurately scopes project effort and timelines, identifying potential contingencies and scope creep.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $101,600.00 - $162,400.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.Who you are
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in talent management strategies, including organizational development, performance improvement, and performance management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in organizational development, education, HR, business, or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrable expertise in human-centered research and design, strong systems-thinking problem solving skills with proven experience in performance management, consulting, L&D, or human resource management.
- A concise and compelling communicator who builds credibility and rapport with audiences at all levels (verbal, written, and executive presentation).
- An innovative and future-forward mentality that translates ideas into concrete outcomes.
- A strategic problem solver who quickly interprets information, identifying risks and potential solutions.
- Exceptional project management skills and associated behaviors. Experience with agile methodologies preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft and Google Suites of products, Qualtrics, Sheets, Generative LLM AI (i.e., Chat GPT), and virtual shared workspaces like Figjam, Mural, Conceptboard, Miro, etc.
