The Digital Editor, K-5 Math will work as part of a larger K-5 mathematics team to review and edit digital content, including teacher presentation screens, lesson practice, unit assessments, and ensure the ongoing maintenance of 1-1 digital lessons and teacher presentation screens for Grades K-5 mathematics. The larger K-5 mathematics team will be comprised of print and digital Curriculum Developers, Interaction Developers, print and digital Editors, and Designers. The Digital Editor, K-5 Math will report to the K-12 Digital Editorial Manager for Mathematics.

Responsibilities of the Digital Editor, K-5 Math:
- Review and edit digital lessons, practice sets, and assessments, across K-5 math. This includes student materials, teacher materials, and ancillary materials.
- Ensure consistency of voice and adherence to program style, vision, and philosophy. Make direct edits as well as comments and suggestions for improvement.
- Ensure that lessons adhere to the style, formatting, phrasing, and vision per the Amplify Desmos Math Digital Authoring Guide (DAG). Help contribute to the DAG during ongoing content reviews.
- Ensure that lessons adhere to the authoring templates and guidelines created at the start of the project.
- Review digital content as a secondary level reviewer for mathematical accuracy. Check digital validation and error messages to ensure that digital content is scoring correctly. Create any new language needed for error messages and document those in the DAG.
- QA digital interactives to ensure that they are working properly, e.g., try to find flaws in how it was built.
- Review digital content using accessibility guidelines.
- Add and/or verify metadata fields for digital content according to Amplify Desmos Math metadata tagging guidelines.
- Review and edit the student and teacher dashboard materials.
- Ensure alignment between content for student and teacher materials.
- Author existing teacher material content from the print into the digital platform and adjust formatting and make slight edits according to the guidelines in the DAG.
- Review and edit work that is outsourced to external content development providers, e.g., vendors and freelancers.
- Collaborate with print Editorial to ensure consistency and alignment in editorial guidelines between print and digital content.
- Respond to questions or clarifications about edits or the DAG from the Curriculum Team (Curriculum Managers and Curriculum Developers).
- Monitor authoring progress and ensure that it keeps pace with Amplify Desmos Math’s production schedule. Identify any schedule concerns or risks and propose possible solutions.
Basic Requirements of the Digital Editor, K-5 Math:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics or relative work experience
- Comfort using Desmos Activity Builder for reviewing and editing mathematical content
- Comfort using Google Docs’ editing and change tracking functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
- Experience working effectively on teams with diverse priorities
Preferred Requirements of the Digital Editor, K-5 Math:
- 3+ years of editorial or copyediting experience with mathematics curriculum
- Mathematics teaching experience, at any grade level
- Grades K-5 mathematical expertise
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this role is $40.
