We are seeking a committed and passionate Development Manager to support our internal business systems technology stack. The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a strategic outlook. This role is pivotal in contributing to the success and expansion of our organization through the effective development of business systems.
As a Business Systems Development Manager, you will be crucial in steering the evolution and streamlining the efficiency of our organization's business systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of developers and administrators, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of team members.
- Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle of business systems (e.g., CRM, ERP, HRIS, integrations, custom development, etc.) from concept to implementation and implement best practices for system development.
- Establish and enforce coding and quality standards for system development and deployment.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure the reliability and performance of business systems.
- Recognize risks spanning across platforms and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure service levels and deliverables meet expectations.
- Develop and manage internal and external resource estimates and costs associated with development projects.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of business systems, processes, and configurations.
- Actively participate in software and technology evaluation efforts to ensure solutions meet our standards.
- Ensure applications and our processes comply with relevant compliance, regulatory, and security standards.
- Implement measures and best practices to safeguard sensitive data and maintain data integrity.
- Drive continuous improvement in system performance and functionality and implement best practices for system development and project management
Basic Requirements of the Business Systems Development Manager:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience in large-scale business systems development, with a strong track record of successful project management and delivery
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership or managerial role within an IT organization managing a diverse team of developers, administrators, and IT professionals
- Strong knowledge of development and configuration capabilities of Tier-1 systems (preferably NetSuite, Salesforce, Dell Boomi, WordPress, etc.)
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Minimum of 5 years experience utilizing development, project management, and release management systems (e.g., JIRA, GitHub, Capodo, etc.)
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address challenges in system development
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors
- Experience in developing and managing budgets for business systems development projects
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in orchestrating IT teams to adhere to Continuous Improvement/Continuous Development methodologies
- Excellent documentation skills to maintain comprehensive records of custom development, system processes/workflows, application configurations, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and building positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners
Preferred Requirements of the Business Systems Development Manager:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and security standards related to business systems
- Certifications in NetSuite and Salesforce administration or related applications.
- Experience with tools we don’t use but should, and the wisdom to know when to recommend them
- Interested in teaching fellow Amplifiers
- Experience in education or ed-tech industry
What we offer:
Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $115,000 - $147,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
