Job Description
SUMMARY: The Data Automation Engineer is a senior technical role in the Chief Data Office focused on designing and building enterprise data infrastructure and patterns to be scalable, reliable, well-governed, and to meet business objectives. This role is highly collaborative, requiring design partnerships with Enterprise Architecture, providing guidance to product and platform teams, and coordinating with data infrastructure, modeling and analytics to ensure solutions converge with a modular and scalable enterprise data strategy.

- Act as a key member of the DataOps team to drive tactical architecture and engineering patterns for enterprise data solutions.
- Build data solutions for automation, cohesion, and robustness in partnership with data engineering, data modeling, data science, data governance, and analytics teams.
- Partner with Enterprise and Solution Architects to align data solutions with application, cloud, security, and infrastructure design patterns.
- Provide consultation and technical guidance to product and platform teams on data design and system implementations aligned with the enterprise data framework.
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three to seven (3-7) years of experience in data engineering, data management, and/or data architecture with a focus on compliance, scalability, and best practices OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience, including prior relevant military service experience.
- Deep understanding of data engineering and data architecture technical best practices and the pros and cons of common data patterns including bulk ingestion, event-based integration, access management, metadata management, data warehousing etc.
- Experience with cloud-based data technologies including Snowflake, and AWS services.
- Significant experience with data modeling and ability to design data flows to ensure data integrity.
- Strong understanding of data security and ability to design data management solutions to scalably meet security, privacy, and governance requirements.
- Strong technical communication and coordination skills to establish partnerships with technical leaders and provide development guidance to other engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to balance iterative delivery with architectural best practices to meet both short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex and imprecise business requirements into clear, actionable, and scalable technical design.
- Ability to travel on limited occasions per year (up to 10%)
- Ability to clear required background checks.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related software and/or data disciplines.
- Knowledge of data governance principles and how they can be effectively applied in practice.
- Experience with technical leadership to drive fast-moving and iterative delivery cycles (either Agile or otherwise).
- Experience applying theoretical data management frameworks into practice including attribute-based access control, data contracts, active metadata, data mesh etc. and ability to speak to pros and cons of these approaches.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $119,746.50 - $191,594.40. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
