THE ROLE:
The SEMI Foundation is seeking an experienced Program Manager, Career & Industry Awareness - OH with a depth of workforce development experience and excellent organizational and communications skills to organize, promote, and implement SEMI Foundation industry awareness programs and initiatives primarily in Ohio as well as other regions. This is a remote position based anywhere in Ohio with regular statewide travel and occasional travel to SEMI Foundation headquarters in Milpitas, California.
We are looking for someone to join the Foundation team who has a keen understanding of the workforce development landscape in Ohio, excels at and enjoys connecting and working with a wide range of partners, is adept at coordinating and presenting at events, and is familiar with registered apprenticeship and other earn-and-learn training programs. We seek a candidate who is eager to contribute to shifting an industry toward more inclusive and equitable hiring and retention. The Program Manager will be responsible for researching, building, and overseeing programs with industry and other partners. The majority of this work will be in Ohio though this position will support similar work in other regions. The Program Manager will work in close collaboration with a wide range of external stakeholders, including employers and industry consortia, unions and labor councils, training providers, secondary and post-secondary education, community-based organizations, and staff from Lorain County Community College, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Manufacturing Workforce Partnership, and other agencies to coordinate and implement a range of industry image and awareness programs designed to inspire students and potential workers from diverse backgrounds to explore training and career opportunities in the microelectronics industry. In time, this role will also support the development of training programs. The successful candidate will bring significant strategic leadership, project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills to the table.
The Program Manager will need to be creative, energetic, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and projects at any given time. All team members and the organization have diversity, equity, and inclusion as core values and practice these values every day.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Capacity for strategic and project planning, project implementation, and coordination of organizations to meet project goals
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills and a reputation for problem-solving and a can-do attitude
- Strong event organization and coordination skills; highly self-directed and capable
- Proven experience in workforce development, program management, and team collaboration
- Experience with registered apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and other earn-and-learn training
- Experience working with underrepresented communities
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices
- Ability to understand organizational culture and protocols working with employers, unions, industry associations, community-based organizations, and government agencies
- Capacity to bring together partners, facilitate meetings, drive consensus
- Proficiency in report writing, spreadsheet management, meeting minutes, and other documentation as required
- Possess a working familiarity with organizational contracts, budgets, project plans, and proposals for funding opportunities
- Availability to travel throughout Ohio on a regular basis (20% of time) with prior approval while maintaining a self-imposed work schedule without local supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the microelectronics/semiconductor industry
- Business development, grants management, or education experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with Sr. Industry Awareness Manager, design, coordinate, support, facilitate, and present at industry awareness events with educational institutions, employers, and partners
- Identify opportunities for SEMI Foundation programs and partnerships in Ohio
- Work with staff team to build, expand, and implement impactful semiconductor outreach materials, programming and events
- Identify aligned partner organizations to assist with event logistics, space, multiply outreach efforts, and expand the reach of events
- Collect event attendee data via registrations and surveys; report number of participants and demographics
- Support ongoing engagement of participants and connections to Foundation training programs
- Collect information on current microelectronics trainings and partnerships in the state
- Participate in efforts to build apprenticeships and/or other training programs in Ohio
- Manage, analyze, and research requests for new SEMI Foundation programs in Ohio
- Assist with connecting employers to workforce partners and opportunities statewide and beyond
- Serve as an active, engaged, transparent, and communicative team member, ensuring the full Foundation team is aware of all Ohio activities
- Support SEMI Foundation relationships with local, regional, state, and federal government agencies
- Monitor progress on programs to ensure milestones and outcomes are met
- Report successes and challenges to internal and external stakeholders
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
- SEMI Foundation provides a robust industry awareness campaign to workers across Ohio.
- SEMI Foundation staff is integrated into the Ohio workforce development landscape through participation in industry-sector partnerships and statewide networks, and Ohio partners view SEMI Foundation as a supportive and important partner.
- SEMI Foundation programs are leveraged and well-integrated into existing Ohio initiatives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- BS/BA degree or relevant experience
- 3-5 years work experience in workforce development, including coaching, training, and/or program coordination
- Experience working in diverse communities and with underrepresented populations
