SEMI is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the financial accounting, budgeting/analysis, financial and budget planning system maintenance for a global trade association. The position also has responsibility for reviewing, overseeing the financial reporting from overseas offices, working with various budget managers, ensuring compliance to group policies, guidelines, accounting rules and regulations.
This is a full-time, exempt position and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Accounting at SEMI Milpitas office.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for accurate and timely performance of assigned daily accounting tasks and month-end closing activities including (but not limited to) inter-company activities and reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, investment accounting, fixed assets accounting, month-end elimination entries and account reconciliations
- Work with assigned subsidiaries on their month end close and accounting projects
- Prepare sales tax and VAT filing
- Ensure accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data
- Act as a Finance advocate with assigned business unit stakeholders:
- Partner with budget managers to assist in the development of revenue, expense and headcount projections during annual budget, quarterly forecast and business review cycles
- Review business units/departmental actuals monthly performance vs budget/forecast, and key performance metrics
- Prepare financial packages and analysis during quarterly forecasts, annual budget cycle and year end
- Assist with annual financial audit and tax filing activities for the Group and assigned subsidiaries, including preparing audit schedules and financial report and attending to audit’s inquires
- Accounting for assigned government grants
- Research technical accounting issues and best practices, to provide recommendations and lead implementation efforts
- Assist with other projects/duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE OR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of relevant accounting with emphasis on the general ledger and financial analysis
- 2-3 years of audit experience with established CPA firm
- Proficient in Excel (vlookup, pivot table, index, modeling skills) and MS Office suite
- Working knowledge of accounting for foreign currency transactions including exchange gain/loss and cumulative translation adjustments
- Experience with financial audit and tax compliance
- Good knowledge and experience of non-profit and government grant accounting (uniform guidance)
- Experience with NetSuite, and Adaptive Insights is highly desirable
