Reporting to the S&S CEO, the Director of Marketing will set the organization’s marketing strategy and oversee its implementation and measurement. This critical remote leadership role will develop and execute the annual marketing plan and oversee all demand generation activities.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in customer life cycle management and marketing attribution. They will have demonstrated experience marketing to PreK-12 schools and districts. As an incoming member of the S&S senior management team, they will need to be a collaborative, data-driven self-starter with successful experience as a B2B marketing leader.
Major Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and lead a marketing strategy and annual plan to drive revenue and achieve growth goals
- Implement and measure the overall e-marketing strategy and omnichannel campaigns including email, social marketing, paid and natural search-engine marketing, affiliates, events, sales enablement, and more
- Manage budgets and campaigns across all digital and direct channels to drive a strong marketing return on investment
- Define customer segmentation and document user journeys to positively affect engagement, acquisition, and retention
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (information technology, creative, merchandising, circulation, database, and sales) to maximize marketing effectiveness
- Oversee interdisciplinary web team to identify areas of improvement, define web site architecture, and ultimately launch redesign of SSWW.com
- Provide active leadership of marketing team; hire, coach and motive the team for success and growth including KPI accountability
- Conduct research into current and emerging marketing trends and technologies in support of continuous improvement in digital and omni-channel B2B activities
- Partner with and manage external marketing agency resources to add expertise and capacity
Preferred Qualifications
- Accomplished track record of building effective and successful marketing strategies to gain, retain, and reactivate customers in a B2B context
- Highly developed P&L mindset with demonstrated ability to optimize marketing spend
- Successful experience marketing to PreK-12 school districts and other school systems
- Expert proficiency with digital marketing tools and strategies including SEO, email, social, web shop design, etc.
- Proven leader who has developed a high-performance marketing team
- Capability to work remotely in the United States and ability to travel as necessary
