As a Research Associate for Cengage, you have the outstanding opportunity to join our premier research team and make significant contributions to the organization. You will work alongside a team of exceptional researchers, playing a key role in supporting various research endeavors across the company. You will be exposed to a variety of functions and business units and get the opportunity to apply your research and project management skills across a wide range of projects. Your expertise and collaboration will be crucial in the path forward for our research team. This role is 100% remote based anywhere in the US.
What you will do here:
- Take charge of the research intake process by handling all research requests through our internal portal. This includes identifying the appropriate research team and connecting with leadership to ensure accuracy. You will also provide the right templates and documentation for projects, while ensuring adherence to legal, privacy, and methodology standards.
- Act as the intermediary for research projects led by vendors, supporting the entire project lifecycle from start to finish. Your role will involve coordinating project scoping, gathering crucial materials, working with relevant parties, supervising project progress, and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Be the initial contact and consultant for self-serve projects, working closely with collaborators to define research objectives and figure out the best way forward. You may provide templates, suggest potential vendors, or offer light support as needed.
- Take ownership for reviewing and approving surveys conducted by non-research teams. Your expertise will ensure compliance with legal and privacy requirements, as well as adherence to fundamental research principles and methodologies.
- Maintain our research repository by organizing and tagging all final reports in the correct folders. Additionally, you will update the main page to highlight the latest research findings, ensuring easy access for the entire company.
- Complete various administrative tasks to support consistent and smooth functioning across the research team.
Skills you will need here:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong interest in business, market research, behavioral sciences, human factors, or educational technology.
- At least 2 years of experience participating in research projects and coordinating research or product strategy initiatives in a client services firm, B2C environment, or as a research vendor. Experience in educational technology is preferred.
- Comfortable and confident in interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong curiosity about quantitative data analysis and the skills to run and interpret large data sets.
- Demonstrated passion for qualitative research and user-centered design, with the desire to effectively complete tasks with minimal guidance.
- Proven experience in project management with a proficiency in various project management tools.
- Consistent track record to effectively run projects, prioritizing collaboration and partnership. You are a proactive problem-solver who solves challenges with a focus on achieving successful outcomes.
- Able to self-manage progress, demonstrating a high level of accountability and personal vitality.
- Strong bias for action, always ready to take initiative and drive projects forward.
- Excellent writing and data visualization skills, with experience organizing and preparing information for efficient presentation to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to seek solutions to complex problems.
- Highly collaborative, thriving in a team-oriented environment where communication and cooperation are important!
- Ability to thrive under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
