Position Overview:
This Regulatory Change and Research Specialist is essential in keeping the company abreast of changes in the regulatory and administrative landscape across applicable issuing bodies that impact our products, services, and revenue, particularly in the areas of occupational licensing and continuing education. The Regulatory Change and Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, analyzing and interpreting upcoming, in development and relevant regulatory activities, including investigations and enforcements, legislative activity and changes of existing applicable regulations and presenting findings in a clear and concise monthly report that includes both specific details and an executive summary. Additionally, this position will support the regulated business functions by handling research requests on current laws in collaboration with other team members.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of upcoming, in development and relevant regulatory activities including federal and state laws, regulations and codes that may impact the company’s products, services, and processes with a focus on occupational licensing and continuing education.
- Continuously monitor and track amendments, legislative sessions, and rulemaking processes that impact the business ensuring the Colibri remains competitive in its regulated markets, contributing to the overall success of the business.
- Monitor state board/commission meeting agendas and minutes and attend, as necessary, virtual meetings to ensure timely awareness of shifts that could affect the company.
- Compile and present a clear and concise monthly report on pending bills, legislation, and regulatory actions that may affect company operations, providing both detailed analysis and executive summaries for stakeholders.
- Act as a resource for legal, product, curriculum, and marketing teams, providing regulatory research support to ensure compliance and alignment with business objectives.
- Evaluate the impact of existing regulations on the company’s products, services, courses, and processes, providing actionable insights to guide business strategy and maintain compliance.
- Support a central repository of reference materials, resources, files, and research outcomes, results and worksheets for future reference
What You'll Need to Succeed
- An advanced degree in law or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a regulatory or legal research role, preferably within a corporate legal department, regulatory affairs, or compliance setting.
- Proven experience in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and policy changes, particularly in areas related to occupational licensing and continuing education.
- Familiarity with the legislative process, rulemaking, and regulatory approval processes at both state and federal levels.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex regulatory information into clear, actionable insights.
- Proficient in using research databases, legal research tools, and contract management software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex regulatory information clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in legal research, document preparation, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across various departments.
- Exemplary organization skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with office software/tools (e.g., Microsoft Office apps, Adobe Pro, Docu-Sign SharePoint; Microsoft Teams).
