As a mentor, you will work directly with youth by supporting them behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. You will serve our youth clients in a variety of settings, providing quality services to meet the needs of each individual.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Advocate to administration for the needs of clients and families, helping to ensure that all client needs are being met and adhering to each client’s individualized treatment plan.
- Provide direct services and constant supervision to individual clients, as outlined in each client’s individualized treatment plan.
- Work one on one with clients to resolve personal, social, and/or emotional problems as they relate to the client’s educational and social progress.
- Participate in activities and services being delivered to clients and be ready to interview during transportation, transition times and activities, as necessary based on behaviors.
- Ensure proper and accurate service documentation is being completed anytime clients and families are served.
- Adhere to and be able to physically perform the use of pre-approved restrictive measures (based on training) when necessary whenever a client becomes a danger to themselves or others.
- Provide direct services to parents to assist them in understanding of and constructive participation in resolving their child’s behavioral needs and to increase their knowledge and use of appropriate community resources.
- Distribute medication, log all medication and administer proper care and handling of medication, as necessary per scheduled client’s treatment plan.
- Prepare meals with client and clean up, using appropriate safety and hygiene practices.
- Adhere to all IYS and CESA 6 transportation and vehicle restrictions and policies.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the resources of the facilities with respect and assist with the upkeep of the facilities by accepting cleaning tasks and responsibilities.
- Follow established procedures for reporting incidents that may occur.
- Take responsibility for professional growth based on feedback, research and best practice.
Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Education and Licensure:
- High school diploma is required. Additional education is preferred.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is required and provided upon hire.
- All program specific required training is provided through the program upon hire, including county specific training.
- Prior experience working with youth and/or emotional behavioral disabilities is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work Environment:
- Ability to work from multiple settings, including several programs and CESA 6 office locations.
- Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- The employee is regularly required to communicate effectively in person, via phone and in writing.
- The employee may occasionally lift or move equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Due to the physical nature of clients with the IYS Program, the position may be required to perform trained crisis prevention techniques, which may require restraining a client ranging in weight.
