About the Role
The Account Manager is the main strategic account planner. Ensuring other sales roles and Elsevier stakeholders are aligned with the account strategic, and account engagement plans. They encourage, facilitate and leverage the other sales roles in order to optimize business within accounts. You’ll report to the Regional Account Director. This position is home based and requires travel to accounts. (OH, MI, KY, VA, and Eastern Canada. Preferred locations: OH, MI, or, VA).
Responsibilities
- Partnering with Solution Sales Managers and Customer Consultants. Solution Sales Managers drive new sales of specific solution. Customer Consultants ensure customers get the most value out of our solutions. You'll support both roles and securing renewals/future growth.
- Ensuring customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. This means you are the expert on the customer. You know and understand customers’ business, strategy and research needs, budgets and competitor products. You translate this knowledge into applications for holistic Elsevier value proposition and solutions we offer.
- Prospecting Action and New Account Acquisition is fully half of the responsibility of this role. Build long-term Elsevier success in your territory.
- Meeting or exceeding the annual revenue targets and achieving long-term growth of overall.
- Delivering the content value story to the customer. (Project managers, and researchers). Drive customer value perception of Elsevier content, products and services.
- Leading and driving high value, complex and potentially highly political negotiations.
- Interacting with various stakeholders within accounts, not just commercial buyers. Working to transform the value perception of Elsevier‘s core offerings with researchers at the account.
- Supporting and understanding ScienceDirect Journals and Books, Scopus, Knovel, Engineering Village, as well as Life Sciences Products.
Requirements
- Experience calling on corporate institutions selling complex products at c- level.
- Have expertise in managing a complex matrix of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience using complex enterprise software or web-based tools would is valued.
- Have a secondary education and background in Account Management. (Managing large complex customers driving customer engagement and growing sales within accounts).
- Experience working in an international matrix organization is valued.
- Display exceptional communication and presentation skills. (Verbal and written).
- Have the ability to perform strategic, needs-analysis, consultative selling approach and Enthusiasm/high energy.
