Our mission is to transform the lives of at-promise youth and young adults (16-24) through education, employment and personal development.
Vision
Through our holistic services and core programming, we give our youth the opportunity to build relationships, develop new skills, and establish goals that will put them on a trajectory to success and self-sufficiency in adulthood. YouthBuild participants, ages 16-24, become employable, productive citizens, working with them to set and achieve individualized development

Position: Job Developer/Placement Specialist
The Job Developer/Placement Specialist will provide support to participants ages 16-24 from the beginning of the program throughout their entire stay. Responsible for providing participants with career exploration, job readiness services along with relevant job placements and career-building opportunities for 8MS YouthBuild students. Must meet or exceed annual pavement and retention outcomes based on contractual goals.
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
Expectations for Role
- Develop and maintain partnerships in the public and private sectors that will provide career opportunities (in the construction industry) that offer living wage, promote career growth, and are aligned with 8MS YouthBuild students' interests and goals.
- Assist 8MS YouthBuild staff members and students to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews
- Schedule frequent employer visits with hiring managers to promote community engagement and hiring 8MSYB graduates.
- Interview students relative to placements being sought.
- Ensure trainees are prepared before going to job interviews and conduct follow-up assessments, helping to facilitate jjob readiness workshops including but not limited to resume development, interview preparation, career path development and promote skills for success.
- Meet with trainees at regular intervals to learn their job and career goals or immediate needs.
- Plan and organize job search skills workshops including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills.
- Work with the Program Manager and team in marketing the program to potential employer partners. This will include developing and making presentations about the 8MS YouthBuild program.
- Conduct recruitment and outreach activities as needed to ensure and sustain adequate program enrollment.
- Connect students with viable job opportunities.
- Work closely with employers of students to maximize student employment retention and success.
- Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between employer and employee post job placement
- Network in the public and private sectors to promote awareness and enhance the reputation of the 8MS Youth Build program
- Contribute to 8MS Youth Build program refinements in ways that meet employers needs and expectations.
- Conduct enrollment interviews of all candidates to assess their likely for program participation and completion as well as to determine any potential limitations/barriers that may hinder performance or employability.
- Hold youth accountable to realize the goals they set, through regular scheduled meetings with participants, using a task-oriented support strategy.
- Conduct job readiness workshops, host college and career fairs and other events to facilitate pathway to graduation and post-secondary instruction or employment.
- Provide in-depth career counseling and assessments and assist with the job search and job placements.
- Design and facilitate weekly peer-group meetings and/or workshops on life-skills, job readiness and leadership development competencies based on the 8MS Youth Build program model
- Participate in staff-development training provided through our networks and partnerships and represent the program in settings with partners and colleagues, as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Associate’s degree in the social sciences, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of experience working with young adults in a non-mandated program in a community-based setting.
- Job development and placement experience required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to persuasively present program and trainees.
- Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people. Experience in planning and conducting training sessions or workshops.
- Requires the willingness and desire to teach young people about service systems and decision-making processes; requires the willingness to learn from young adults and the ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
- High energy and motivation to help young people succeed.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) or Multi-lingual skills are highly preferred.
Additional Information
Employment at Community Preschools is at-will and employees will undergo 45 and 90-day check-ins during their 90-day probationary period.
