Are you a skillful Senior Web Game Developer with experience developing WebGL/WebGPU products? We are ready to welcome you to our team, which makes first-class pedagogical games and experiences!
For this role, we are hiring both remote and hybrid in locations such as Poland and Norway, and you will report to the hiring manager in Norway.
The Team
As a Senior Web Game Developerat Kahoot!, you will be part of a flat-structured team that values and encourages developer-led initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, PMs, and testers on our learning platform, creating new, exciting game features and presentation tools. You will have an active role in maintaining and improving these core products.
- 5+ years experience in web development, with commercial experience in TypeScript and React.
- Commercial experience with PixiJS or other WebGL/WebGPU rendering frameworks.
- A good understanding of animation techniques using libraries like GSAP and Spine.
- Strong communication and organisational skills. We have a hybrid working set up, and our team is multidisciplinary and multicultural.
- An eye for process and structure, and experience using version control.
You’ll fit right into our team and culture with any of the following:
- Experience with game feel. Using feedbacks like animation, particles and sounds to add game juice and make satisfying player experiences.
- A good understanding of game development patterns.
- Experience working on a large codebase with many contributors.
- Interest in education and pedagogy.
- Experience with multiplayer gaming with web sockets.
Responsibilities
You’ll be joining our team in building new products and maintaining existing ones. Some areas you can expect to work on include:
- UI development in React.
- Gameplay development and animation implementation.
- Working with audio engineers to implement sound and music effects.
- Actively participating in design and product meetings, as well as contributing to the wider development team discussion.
