WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Content Manager at Jones & Bartlett Learning is responsible for managing the content of assigned projects from build plan through development to market launch. They retain ownership of the product lifecycle and ensure that consistent, high-quality content is delivered on time, in alignment with the product build plans developed by the Product teams.
WHERE YOU’LL WORK
This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS or Burlington, MA office location preferred. Remote will be considered within the United States.
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME
- Develop new edition and revision manuscripts by evaluating and editing content.
- Provide editorial and strategic guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Implement instructional design methodologies for both print and digital content.
- Manage revision authors and contributors from contract addendum to the go-live/printed product.
- Oversee the art program, including coaching authors and supervising photo shoots.
- Manage the page review process and create back cover copy and front matter manuscripts.
- Develop ancillaries to accompany main texts, such as online instructor toolkits, videos, and online modules.
- Collaborate with internal production stakeholders and address any errors introduced by external vendors.
- Track and report on the success of content and identify areas for improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required for this position.
- The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience in content development and educational technology, working with multiple formats and modalities.
- Familiarity with the Higher Education market is preferred, and experience working with associations and advisory boards is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in taking end-to-end accountability for timely project completion.
- Proactive and takes initiative, leading change and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with diverse stakeholders and teams.
- Willingness to take ownership of special initiatives that add value to the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand market and customer requirements.
- Experience in the educational product content development process, including talent sourcing and management for content creation.
- Thoughtful, strategic, and customer-focused decision-making abilities.
- Open-minded, diplomatic, and flexible in overcoming obstacles with publishing partners and subject matter experts.
