Position Overview:
This role is intended to provide a wide range of support and training to our DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) clients in the areas of securing government contract work, obtaining DBE certification, as well as general business systems, processes, and tools.
What You'll Do
- Provide live instruction, both in-person and virtually, on topics related to construction, securing government contracts, and construction business operations (bidding, plan reading, Davis Bacon reporting, basic quick books and business accounting process, RFP writing, contract writing, basic construction business operations and marketing, etc.)
- Develop, administer, and maintain training materials for classes related to construction industry and construction business operations (primarily in PowerPoint).
- Utilize student feedback to regularly update and improve training sessions for our DBE clients
- Create needs assessments, business plans, and marketing plans for DBE clients through client interviews and research and with designated templates and software utilized by CEI
- Provide answers to questions from DBE customers around DBE certification, securing government contracts, and construction business operations.
- Work with leadership regarding new RFP opportunities in the DBE space and provide support and participation as requested for those submissions
- Develop profit models for DBE clients demonstrating overhead expense views, which can be scaled to future projects
- Collaborate with marketing team to maintain standards of attendance and participation for each class and drive attendance
- Attend live events for networking with and presenting/teaching to DBE clients and government DOT employees
- Complete other designated support projects for DBE clients
What You'll Need to Succeed
- MUST HAVE 5+ years of experience required in construction industry with detailed knowledge of bidding, plans readying, contract writing, RFP submission and process, and construction safety.
- 2-5 years of experience with government DOT, government contracts, or large-scale public construction projects
- Experience with public speaking, live instruction, workshop facilitation relating to construction topics and/or construction business operations
- Ability to develop curriculum/presentations to be administered in a classroom setting (typically PowerPoint) related to construction and business operation topics
- Able to work independently with ownership of classroom and trainings schedules
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to quickly learn and master virtual training software such as Go To Meeting, etc.
- Ability to provide basic troubleshooting/tech support to participants in virtual classroom setting
- Travel is required with this position; up to 30% domestic travel is required
