Job Description:
Sr. Director of Total Rewards is a key member of the People leadership team responsible for developing and leading comprehensive compensation, benefits, and rewards strategies that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This position oversees global total rewards programs, including base salary, bonus structures, long-term incentives, health and wellness benefits, recognition, and retirement plans while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial performance.

What you’ll do:
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a global team responsible for designing and administering the company’s total rewards programs, providing mentorship, and fostering a culture of customer obsession, alignment and focus, continuous learning, and direct and respectful accountability.
- Strategy Development: Design and refine comprehensive total rewards strategies, including compensation, benefits, equity, and recognition programs that align with the company’s mission, business, and culture objectives. Recommend total rewards approaches in a global private company context and the overall employee value proposition.
- Compensation Management: Design and refine competitive compensation structures, including base salary, variable pay (bonuses, commissions), and executive compensation plans, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and market benchmarks. Lead annual compensation planning process and administration.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee the company’s benefits programs, including health insurance, wellness programs, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), paid time off, and other employee perks, ensuring that offerings are attractive and cost-effective.
- Market Analysis: Monitor total rewards trends to maintain competitiveness and adapt programs in response to external shifts, like remote work trends or hot job/capabilities, and recommend updates as needed.
- Compliance and Legal Oversight: Ensure total rewards programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations in each country in which we operate.
- Employee Communication: Lead efforts to communicate total rewards programs to employees and leaders, ensuring understanding and value recognition of the organization’s compensation and benefits packages.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with key stakeholders within the People team, Finance, Legal and across the business to ensure Total Rewards programs meet the needs of a diverse workforce and business outcomes.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external compensation and benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants.
- Equity and Long-Term Incentive Plans: Assist with administration of equity compensation programs and long-term incentive plans.
- Board Materials: Partner with Chief People Officer and Chief Legal Officer to ensure all necessary materials are ready and accurate for Board meetings.
Experience you’ll bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on total rewards, compensation, and benefits. Proven experience at the leadership level, including managing global total rewards programs.
- Expertise in Total Rewards Programs: Strong knowledge of compensation structures, sales compensation, salary survey systems, executive compensation, equity programs, and employee benefits administration.
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Expertise in data analysis and financial modeling for compensation, bonus, and benefits plans. Ability to translate business objectives into rewards strategies that drive employee engagement.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and managing HR teams, including coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and communicate complex information effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources with emphasis in Finance.
- 10+ Years of experience in compensation, equity, benefits, and total rewards within a global organization - tech would be ideal but not an imperative.
- Demonstrated success in delivering total rewards in a private equity environment.
- Strong understanding of private company compensation and benefits principles and practice (ideally someone who worked in a public company that went private).
- Proven track record of leading and developing high performing, results oriented teams.
- Learning and an agile mindset.
- Experience in variable compensation structures: STI, Sales Compensation, Adhoc bonuses, etc.
- Proven experience with equity programs.
- Experience with conducting compensation market research and salary surveys (via Mercer, Radford, Towers Watson, and other named compensation market surveys).
- Modernized/refined compensation philosophies and structures aligned with company growth, culture, and market competitiveness; includes salary bands, job leveling, and benchmarking.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills while staying authentic.
- Proficiency in Workday and total rewards software - including salary market tools.
- Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Leverages data analytics to evaluate compensation effectiveness and provides actionable insights on employee attraction and retention (ability to connect the dots across the employee lifecycle).
- Expertise in global compensation and benefits practices, with experience managing multi-country total rewards programs, either directly or via brokers.
- Proven experience modernizing or refining compensation philosophies and structures.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and gain support to build consensus.
Travel Requirements:
While Pluralsight operates under a remote and hybrid work model, we believe that in-person connection and collaboration are important. Recurring travel to our HQ in Utah may be required depending on the role and team member location.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $165,800 - $204,700 USD. Pluralsight's pay ranges vary based on work location. Talent Acquisition can share more detail during the hiring process when applicable. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. In addition to the base salary, this role may also be eligible for benefits and bonuses.
