THE ROLE
The Math Specialist reports to a Director or Senior Director on the Content and Training team. In this role, you will lead the development of training and content-specific resources in math. You will work alongside our staff, lead teams of contractors, and collaborate with clients to successfully deliver training and coach leaders to support use of high quality instructional materials. This role requires deep knowledge of content and pedagogy, the ability to manage multiple work streams and timelines, and the ability to coach leaders and facilitate adult learning for K - 12 educators.
This position can be based from a home office anywhere in the U.S. Depending on location, expected travel time is 20 - 30% for onsite project work (training, coaching or leading strategic planning), company or team retreats, and other events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery (80 - 100%)
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with clients, including state, district, school leaders, to help achieve project goals and contribute to the continuation and expansion of our work
- Manage training and resource development work streams and timelines across multiple projects
- Own the vision for completing the training workstream on projects in alignment with project goals
- Design role-specific trainings for teachers and leaders focused on high-quality instructional materials and standards-aligned instructional practices
- Design content-specific resources, such as frameworks, case studies, model lessons, reports, and coaching plans
- Train and coach team members to effectively deliver training and to develop resources
- Engage with team members and clients to collect feedback and customize deliverables to meet client needs
- Facilitate adult learning experiences for teachers and leaders
- Coach school leaders and/or teachers to build capacity and support implementation of high-quality instructional materials or evidence-based instructional practices
- Coordinate project logistics among SchoolKit team members, clients, and partner organizations as needed on projects
Strategy and Service Development (5 - 10%)
- Refine our services through sharing and learning from common challenges, best practices, and collaborating to create new tools and techniques
- Build expertise on latest research, resources and evidence-based practices
- Contribute to our business development strategy and proposal writing for new and existing clients
Leadership and Management (5 - 10%)
- Contribute to hiring and development of team members, while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that reflects SchoolKit's culture, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience as a K - 12 mathematics teacher, with 2+ years of experience as an instructional leader (instructional coach, department lead, assistant principal, curriculum manager, master teacher, etc.)
- Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics content and evidence-based instructional practices
- Comprehensive understanding of and experience with college and career ready standards, instructional shifts, and assessments in K - 12 mathematics
- Experience with implementation of high-quality instructional materials aligned to college and career-ready standards
- Experience designing and delivering training for teachers and/or leaders in your specific content area
- Knowledge of best practices and experience coaching teachers and/or instructional leaders
- Experience leading collaborative teams and providing feedback to others
- Education: A bachelor’s degree, Masters degree in education or related field preferred
COMPENSATION
The starting salary for this position will be between $85,000 - $95,000 and is dependent on experience.
