Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is a 3-year project end date position. In partnership with colleagues from Scholastic’s Education Solutions Group, the Senior Bilingual Editor manages editorial development for print and digital programs aimed at multilingual learners and Spanish-language students. The position ensures quality of pedagogy, coherence, and clarity in products, and supports the team in delivering timely, high-quality content
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product:
Edits and reviews content to ensure quality of pedagogy (instructional clarity and preservation of the research base), production (quality of design and accuracy of editing), and marketability (clarity of message, relevance of topic)
Develops, shapes, and assigns content as needed to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of print or digital content
Takes a problem-solving stance, anticipates issues and offers solutions throughout all stages of product development
Informs comprehensive editorial strategy for publishing programs
Process:
Develops and adheres to established editorial guidelines and templates when writing and editing content
Develops and executes based on approved prototypes and specifications
Delivers content in a timely manner with an awareness of production schedules, pub dates and sales needs
Maintains frequent communication with internal stakeholders (permissions, marketing, sales, social media, etc.) to share information, manage expectations, describe next steps, and brainstorm solutions
Works with senior team members to balance budget considerations with project priorities
People:
Works with senior team members to support other editors, including freelance editors, by providing direction on projects and offering feedback
Works with vendors to manage assets and coordinate activities with other departments
Works with content and academic specialists/program authors to develop prototypes and ensure program pedagogy and quality.
Works within and across internal teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, competitive product

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience developing pedagogical resources in K–12
Excellent editing and organizational skills
Deep understanding of the children’s literature market
Ability to work on short- and long-term projects in a fast-paced environment
Strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation in English and Spanish
Commitment to highest standards of quality and accuracy
Adherence to Scholastic’s editorial guidelines and policies
Mastery of Microsoft Suite, Adobe InCopy, Adobe PDF, Google Drive, and One Drive
Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication skills, in English and Spanish
Familiarity with Common Core and WIDA standards and multilingual learning models
Experience:
5–7 years of experience developing, editing and managing educational content in English and Spanish for US audiences
Native fluency in Spanish and professional fluency in English
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education or education-related field, or 7–10 years of experience in educational publishing
Master’s degree in education or education-related field preferred, but not required
Familiarity with bilingual and/or dual language classroom resources a plus
