About
Currently based in Vietnam, I am open to relocating internationally for the right role.
Shaping the future of ESL education: Bridging gaps in curriculum, collaboration, and student learning through bold leadership, innovative solutions, and improved curricula.
Since beginning my journey as an ESL educator in 2015, I’ve built a wealth of experience across diverse educational systems, from informal settings to highly structured programs like the British EYFS/IEYC, STEM, Canadian curriculum, and National Geographic’s global learning framework. Experiencing a spectrum of curricula, facing similar barriers in each, and witnessing student frustrations due to them, I want to improve international education. The desire in my heart is to address curriculum design as a tool to ensure classes meet student needs.
As time passed and experiences accumulated, I became aware of the systemic gaps in ESL education, such as the curricula being misaligned with students’ abilities, inadequate collaboration between stakeholders, and barriers created by strict management practices. Despite these challenges, I’ve remained committed to international education. Recognizing the need for expertise, I pursued a Master of Education in International Leadership at Northern Arizona University, equipping myself with the tools to tackle these issues head-on.
In my current role in Vietnam, I’ve taken the initiative to create ongoing quantitative research to understand student disengagement in class, curriculum shortcomings, and student avoidance of the company’s self-learning tools. With the current data and the knowledge and ability to analyze them, I have proposed some actionable solutions, such as enhancing the company’s learning app through gamification, for example, and improving stakeholder collaboration. These recommendations are currently under management review, and I’m determined to continue endorsing positive changes to promote equitable ESL instruction and learning.
My vision goes far beyond classroom teaching; therefore, I aim to transition from a teaching position to curriculum development and EdTech, which leverages my extensive experience to lead transformative projects that enhance student outcomes and foster collaboration among a larger group of individuals. With the right leadership and partnerships, even the most challenging systemic issues can be addressed.
Ready to reimagine what’s possible in education? I’d love to connect.
