About
With over 20 years of experience in education, I am passionate about integrating technology and computer science into the curriculum and supporting teachers and students in their learning journey. As an Instructional Technology Specialist at Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS), I collaborate with the district's instructional technology department and school administrators to design, implement, and evaluate technology-enhanced learning experiences for K-5 students. I also facilitate professional development workshops and coaching sessions for teachers on topics such as coding, digital citizenship, and STEM. Additionally, I work as a CodeVA Facilitator, where I help teachers and students across Virginia access high-quality computer science education and resources. My background in special education and Montessori teaching has enabled me to adopt a student-centered and differentiated approach to instruction, and to foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in the classroom. I am currently pursuing a Computer Science Teacher Leadership certification from James Madison University, as part of my commitment to continuous learning and improvement. I am excited to leverage my skills, expertise, and enthusiasm to create engaging and meaningful learning opportunities for students and teachers in the 21st century.
