Skills
I have quite a few "transferable skills" that I can say I'm proficient in.
Project Manager. Communication, Instructional Design, Data Analysis, Technology Integration, Coaching and Leadership
For example, my skills at multi-tasking or being a "project manager" is in the wheelhouse of being an elementary classroom teacher. I have taught multiple subjects, prepared students for state mandated tests, along with teaching in different styles to reach all learning abilities.
I'm also an expert in my communication skills. I've created training and presented in professional development environments for my district as well as individual schools. As a teacher, I've learned that communication between co workers, parents, students, and admin are high on the priority list. Whether it be through social media apps, email, one on one, newsletters. This skill is used daily and is very important to any profession.
Instructional Designing skills has been an integrate part of the education profession. I've created lesson plans, built curriculum worksheets and other helpful tools for student learning and success.
Reading DATA and ANALYSIS is a tool that I've been able to use through my teaching career and beyond. Being able to read data to see where students or teachers need improvement in certain areas is essential in my current role.
Technology Integration is one of my main skills that I've seem to gravitate to. I was never shy in using technology in my classroom. I encouraged the usage. In my current role, I teach teachers great tips on how they can integrate technology in their classroom.
I'm currently in a coaching and leadership position and use these skills to teach and train teachers, to help them feel comfortable, to ask questions, and to learn how to use a product efficiently and how it can bring success into their classroom.
About
I'm a former 4th grade elementary school Texas teacher who has taught in all content areas. I was a classroom teacher for 14 years. I enjoyed teaching and growing in my education career; however, 3 years ago, I decided to make a new career change, within my district, and accepted the position as the Instructional Technology Specialist for grades PK-5.
Currently, I oversee four schools which include grades PK-5. My daily role is to support computer labs at each school by creating and providing lesson plans that adhere to the state technology standards. I also help support the teachers, faculty and staff by providing instructional technology assistance. Whether it be holding small professional development training on how to use the latest technology in their classrooms or giving them technology tips to help them better in the classroom, my role is to support and assist in any way I can.
I've been growing in this professional role and have achieved an abundance of knowledge and would like to open myself up to new challenges where I can utilize my years of classroom and technology experiences.
