Role Snapshot
The Director of IT Infrastructure leads the planning, implementation, and management of Alabama State University's enterprise infrastructure across on-premise and hybrid systems, supporting digital transformation and operational excellence. This senior leadership role ensures secure, scalable infrastructure aligned with academic, research, and administrative priorities.
Key Responsibilities: Lead strategic planning and implementation of hyperconverged, cloud, and on-premise infrastructure platforms; oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning; manage AI infrastructure supporting GenAI applications; and supervise network engineers and systems administrators. Collaborate with Information Security and Academic Technology teams on infrastructure roadmaps, vendor negotiations, and support research data workflows.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in hyperconverged infrastructure (VMware, Nutanix), disaster recovery, business continuity, research computing, and AI/GPU infrastructure; proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), storage systems, and backup solutions. Strong leadership, project management, vendor negotiation, and strategic planning capabilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 7-10 years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role with demonstrated supervisory experience. Master's degree is preferred.

Compensation: $120K–$180K/yr
