Role Snapshot

Part-time Systems Engineer II role supporting the College's computing and network infrastructure through technical and administrative tasks. Provides Tier III support for systems software and hardware issues escalated from the Help Desk.

Key Responsibilities: Provide technical support, perform system installations, troubleshoot server issues, and conduct IT security assessments. Maintain Windows and Linux servers, manage SAN and email environments, and assist with network infrastructure installation, configuration, and administration.
Skills & Tools: Knowledge of operating system installation, security, and configuration; experience with desktop and server patch management, LDAP concepts, SAN concepts, and application installation. Ability to troubleshoot server problems and perform IT security risk assessments.
Qualifications: Associate's degree with three years of experience in systems engineering or a related computer field. Demonstrated knowledge of operating system installation, security, configuration, and IT infrastructure support.

The purpose of this class is to perform administrative and technical work in support of the College's computing and/or network infrastructure.

 Associates degree and three years of experience in systems engineering or computer related field. Knowledge of operating system installation, security, and configuration. Knowledge of application installation and end user provisioning and security, LDAP concepts, SAN concepts, desktop and server patch management.

  1. Provide technical support for the Information Technology department and ongoing projects.
  2. Serve as a member of the team which provides Tier III support to the Support Center, including the Help Desk.
  3. Assist with problem support for systems software and hardware support for problems escalated by the Support Center and Help Desk Analysts.
  4. Assist with the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
  5. Perform information technology security risk assessments, incident response, and remediation.
  6. Provide support for upgrades, rollouts and special projects, and events, as required.
  7. Troubleshoot server problems.
  8. Ensure stability of Windows and Linux servers throughout routine maintenance.
  9. Coordinate new server software installations.
  10. Prototype new software.
  11. Maintain SAN and email environments.
