Role Snapshot

Director of IT Infrastructure at Alabama State University is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and enhancing the university's enterprise infrastructure across on-premise and hybrid systems. The position drives digital transformation initiatives and ensures secure, efficient, and scalable operations aligned with academic, research, and administrative priorities.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee strategic planning and implementation of on-premise and cloud infrastructure platforms, including hyperconverged systems, storage, and virtual environments. Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, manage AI infrastructure components, support research computing workflows, and supervise infrastructure personnel while collaborating with security and applications teams.
Skills & Tools: Proven expertise in hyperconverged infrastructure (VMware, Nutanix), disaster recovery strategies, cloud environments, and emerging technologies including Generative AI and containerized workloads. Strong leadership, vendor negotiation, and strategic planning abilities with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field with 7-10 years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience and 3+ years in a leadership role; Master's degree is preferred. Demonstrated experience with cloud services, infrastructure architecture, and managing technical teams.
Location: Montgomery, Alabama
Compensation: $130K–$180K/yr
