Summary

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, computing discipline, or related technical/education field required; minimum two years of relevant experience required for P2 level (none required for P1 level). Both levels require understanding of higher education operations and pedagogical concepts.

Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $48,000 – $68,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

This Instructional Specialist posting and the Curriculum Developer posting represents one position vacancy, to be filled at the level matching candidate credentials.

The Associate Instructional Specialist (P1) will work under immediate supervision while following established procedures and working with other departmental instruction specialists to support the implementation, delivery, and provisioning of assigned undergraduate Computer Science (CS) courses for CS, Data Science (DS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) majors, including lecture, lab, and project experiences.

The Instructional Specialist (P2) works under general supervision, independently and in collaboration with other instructional specialists and curriculum development specialists to plan, implement and coordinate assigned undergraduate Computer Science courses for CS, DS, and AI majors, including lecture, lab, and project experiences.

Education and Experience Required:

Associate Instructional Specialist (P1) will need the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other computing discipline preferred, or other technical or education major
  • No experience required

Skills Needed:

  • Understanding of the organization and operation of higher education courses, and the function of teaching assistants

Preferred:

  • Understanding of software development, computer instructional laboratories, and pedagogical concepts
  • Ability to:
  • develop presentations used in training teaching assistants
  • use of content management system to maintain a course website
  • Knowledge of the operation of course learning management systems

Instructional Specialist (P2) will need the following:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, other computing discipline, or other technical or education major required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience

Skills Needed:

  • General knowledge of computer Science curricula
  • Understanding of the organization and operation of higher education courses
  • Understand the function of teaching assistants
  • Ability to:
  • effectively communicate with faculty and teaching assistants
  • work independently, and with large groups

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of CS instructional laboratories and general knowledge of computer lab equipment
  • Ability to:
  • teach and monitor progress of teaching assistants
  • maintain a course website
  • Knowledge of the operation of course learning management systems
