Seeking a Senior Platform Engineer responsible for managing infrastructure and supporting platforms for the Otus application, primarily focusing on AWS EKS and Terraform.

Location: Primarily remote with headquarters in Chicago, United States.
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation ranges for this position are between $130,000 - $180,000.
Your Role
This role is responsible for owning the infrastructure that the Otus application utilizes. Along with the infrastructure you will be expected to help the Platform team support the underlying platforms that the organization relies on (observability, CICD, code and image repositories, secret management, alerting, etc.). You will support ad hoc or break in requests from other engineering teams with the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support and build out highly available platforms built on public cloud infrastructure for a microservice architecture (Kubernetes using AWS EKS)
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Support contemporary operations tooling, metrics, logging and monitoring (Prometheus, New Relic, Grafana/LGTM stack)
- Maintain platform and account security (Github, CICD platforms, AWS engineer accounts, etc.)
- Act as a mentor to other engineers both within and outside of the Platform team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Understanding of cloud first backend engineering concepts, with a focus on scalable systems (AWS preferred).
- Strong technical expertise in kubernetes
- Familiarity in at least one scripting language (bash, Python, Powershell, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of cloud technologies and modern software engineering practices.
- Have an ownership mentality for the infrastructure and all over platforms you are building.
- Exceptional communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
