Summary

Communications Intern at Big Ideas Learning supporting strategic storytelling across internal and external communications, with hands-on experience in corporate communications, internal messaging, and brand storytelling through social media.

Key Responsibilities: Support internal communications through content creation, draft team updates and announcements, maintain content calendars, and develop brand-aligned social media content. Gather stories and milestones from departments, create visual and digital assets, and track engagement opportunities.
Skills & Tools: Strong written communication and editing abilities, familiarity with digital design tools such as Adobe Express or Adobe Premiere, organizational and project management skills, and proficiency with collaborative tools. Experience in brand-aligned social media management is preferred.
Qualifications: Currently pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with experience in brand-aligned social media management preferred. Demonstrated exceptional listening, writing, and presentation skills with resourcefulness and commitment to problem-solving.

About the Role

Big Ideas Learning is seeking a Communications Intern to support strategic storytelling across internal and external communication efforts. This role provides hands-on experience in corporate communications, with a focus on internal messaging and brand storytelling through social media. 

The ideal candidate is an organized and creative communicator who is eager to contribute, collaborate across teams, and help shape how we share our story. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in how communication connects people and supports a company’s identity and values.

This is a temporary / seasonal position. The Communications Intern will work approximately 30-40 hours per week (some flexibility) out of our Erie, PA office.

Responsibilities:

Internal Communications 

  • Support storytelling and content creation for employees using the company intranet and on-site digital signage 
  • Draft and edit internal updates, announcements, and team highlights 
  • Gather stories, milestones, and content ideas from departments across the organization 
  • Maintain and organize a content calendar to support communications planning 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Social Media Support 

  • Contribute to the development of brand-aligned social media content 
  • Draft and edit posts for review and scheduling 
  • Assist with creating visual and digital assets using design tools 
  • Collaborate on storytelling initiatives that reinforce company identity and values 
  • Track engagement and help identify opportunities for growth

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field 
  • Experience in brand-aligned social media management 
  • Strong written communication and editing skills 
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple projects 
  • Familiarity with digital design tools such as Adobe Express or Adobe Premiere 
  • Comfortable working across teams and using collaborative tools 
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, creative environment
