Summary
The Director of Network Services leads the Network Services group at UMass Lowell, overseeing the architecture, operations, and advanced support of the university's network infrastructure while providing strategic thought leadership and mentorship to the IT team.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and expand the Network Services team's skillset, oversee network systems operations and architecture, serve as the highest escalation point for network-related issues, and build cross-campus relationships to design and implement technology changes aligned with university goals.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in multi-vendor network routing and switching (Extreme Networks, HPE/Aruba, Juniper), strong leadership and mentoring abilities, mastery of network security best practices, knowledge of network management systems like ExtremeCloud IQ, and demonstrated thought leadership in evaluating emerging technologies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with 12+ years of experience architecting and supporting complex enterprise/university networks, 8+ years in progressive leadership roles, and proven ability to coach and direct technical staff. Master's degree strongly preferred.
Location: Hybrid in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
Compensation: $135,000 – $145,000/year
