The Art of Education University seeks an Academic Advisor & Student Coach to guide adult learners through their educational journeys, providing personalized support and coaching to enhance student engagement, success, and enrollment growth.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Student Advising & Coaching
- Maintain a portfolio of active degree-seeking and continuing education students, providing proactive and responsive support to meet their needs.
- Collaborate with students to develop personalized academic plans aligned to their goals, circumstances, and timelines.
- Contribute to enrollment growth efforts for continuing education offerings through consultative conversations and supportive guidance.
- Bring forward creative ideas to strengthen conversion and streamline the enrollment experience.
- Identify friction points in the student experience and share ideas to improve clarity, efficiency, or momentum.
- Guide students through milestones with regular check-ins, encouragement, and clear expectations.
- Offer tailored coaching for students navigating academic, financial, or personal barriers.
- Support students through multiple communication channels, including email, phone, text, and virtual meetings.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed and accurate records in CRM and SIS platforms, ensuring compliance with internal processes and external regulations.
- Meet or exceed goals related to advising outcomes, communication timelines, and the quality of outreach.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance the university-wide student experience.
- Contribute to pilots, improvements, and initiatives by offering observations, proposing refinements, and helping test new approaches.
Knowledge & Skills
- High emotional intelligence, with a talent for building relationships with busy adult learners.
- Strong coaching instincts; able to listen deeply, ask effective questions, and guide students through challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly and compassionately translate complex information.
- Comfort in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Dedicated to continuous improvement.
- Proactive problem solver who brings forward ideas and takes initiative. Owns individual outcomes while contributing to team strategy
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Experience working in tech-enabled environments is required.
Position Requirements

Experience
- Academic advising, student coaching, admissions, or consultative sales experience preferred.
- K–12 art education/education experience preferred.
- Prior experience working remotely is a plus.
- Prior experience in distance education is a plus.
Education & Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree in fine arts, art education, education, or a related field is required.
- A master’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Other Requirements
- Availability between 8 a.m.–5 p.m. in your local time zone, with flexibility for occasional evening appointments.
- Ability to travel 1–2 times per quarter for team meetings or university events.
Since AOE operates in a fully remote/online environment, requirements include frequent and prolonged use of computers and other technology, as well as the ability to enter information into a computer using a keyboard or alternative means.
The Interview Process
- Step 1: ~15-30-minute phone interview with hiring manager
- Step 2: Round 2 packet & corresponding interview: This step is designed to help identify how you might approach some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges that may arise in this role. The intention is for you to gain a sense of the role and provide us with an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your deliverables will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy.
