VR Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Port Operations & Logistics
Contract-to-W2 | U.S.-Based with Extended Travel to Saudi Arabia
Overview
We are seeking an experienced VR Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the rapid development of immersive, scenario-based virtual reality training for naval port operations. This role involves on-site work in Saudi Arabia for approximately 90 days, capturing real-world operational data and transforming it into high-impact VR training scenarios using our proprietary VR platform.
The initial engagement will focus on developing operational training scenarios within a defined timeline, with the opportunity to transition into a longer-term role supporting a multi-year global training initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy on-site to active port locations to capture real-world photos, workflows, and operational data
- Design and develop realistic VR training scenarios related to:
- Port operations
- Storage and logistics
- Safety, readiness, and operational assessments
- Translate client processes and on-site observations into immersive VR training experiences
- Collaborate closely with internal VR developers, instructional designers, and project leadership
- Support the creation of training plans and scenario frameworks that can be reused across agencies
- Ensure accuracy, realism, and operational relevance of all VR content
- Provide subject-matter guidance throughout development and review cycles
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Willingness and ability to travel to Saudi Arabia for ~90 consecutive days

- Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the following:
- Port operations
- Logistics and supply chain
- Industrial, maritime, or naval operations
- Experience developing or supporting training content, simulations, or scenario-based learning
- Comfort working on-site in operational environments and gathering firsthand data
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Valid passport (or ability to obtain one quickly)
Preferred Experience
- Experience with VR, simulation-based training, or immersive learning tools
- Familiarity with operational training for government, defense, or industrial environments
- Previous international or extended on-site deployment experience
- Background working with structured training programs or learning platforms
Engagement Details
- Initial engagement: Contractor role (daily rate)
- Future opportunity: Conversion to W2 employment as the program expands
