ROLE SUMMARY This is not your typical internship. At Chegg you will work with a modern, cutting-edge tech stack from Spring Boot and React to Node, Kafka, AWS, and LLMs using AI-powered development tools like Claude as part of your everyday workflow. You will build features that ship to production and reach millions of students worldwide. WHAT YOU’LL DO Feature Delivery & Ownership Contribute to end-to-end feature development, from system design discussions through production delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to break down requirements into clean, shippable increments. Participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions to build engineering judgment. Engineering Work across the stack building user interfaces in React.js / Next.js, extending backend microservices in Java / Spring Boot, Python, or Node.js, or writing SQL queries, ETL pipelines, and data transformations. Leverage AWS services alongside the team to build and maintain reliable, cloud-native infrastructure. Build dashboards, surface insights from large-scale data, and collaborate with analytics partners to deliver data products. Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; develop a strong testing mindset from day one. Learn observability practices like structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics dashboards. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Required Qualifications Currently in final year of or completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Solid foundation in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, Java, Node etc.). Understanding of fundamental data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows. Eagerness to learn new technologies quickly and work across unfamiliar stacks. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, feedback-driven mindset. Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude) and able to leverage them to speed up development. Nice to Have Hands-on experience with any tech stack including Node, Java, Python, etc. Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL). Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with event-driven systems or streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ). Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal portfolio / GitHub. Prior internship or work experience in a software development role.
