Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation ranges for this position are between $60,000 - $85,000.
SUMMARY
The Editor has extensive knowledge of English Language Development (ELD) assessments and uses that knowledge to help develop competitive offerings. The Editor is knowledgeable about all of the “details” in the plan for the assigned project, including specs, writing guidelines, and the plan details for RFPs (if appropriate).
The Editor relies on guidance from their direct supervisor to ensure that the evolving product meets the objectives of the plan, its budget, and its schedule. Collaborates with in-house staff and manages external content developers to complete assigned projects.
This is a term of project position, expected to last for twelve (12) months.
SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB
- With supervision, write and edit manuscripts.
- Monitor appropriateness of text material as to reading level, content accuracy and currency, freedom of bias, and teachability.
- Write and provide art specs for artists and photo-researchers. Participate in evaluation of sketches and choice of photos.
- Working with Product Management and Marketing, analyze competition and market trends and incorporate findings into program.
- Oversee work of outside developers.
- Ensure compliance with state standards and assessments.
- Participate in planning assigned projects; make creative suggestions that reflect an understanding of the marketplace and an awareness of customer needs.
- Ensure that product responds to customer needs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the development of assessments for English Language Learners or similar work.
- Teaching experience a plus.
- A BA in a relevant field, such as Elementary or Secondary Education with a specialization in TESOL or ESL
- Knowledge of WIDA standards, as well as of bilingual, Spanish-immersion and English-immersion K-12 language programs
